Published on the occasion of Catherine Opie’s 2000 show at the Photographer’s Gallery, her first solo show in the UK, this monograph features her “twisted social documentary photography”. It includes works made in the mid-90s, portraits of close friends from within Los Angeles' leather community: trans men, drag queens and body manipulators. It also features a series of self-portraits, including Bo, 1994, one of several Opie alter-egos a butch, mustachioed, tattooed truck driver.
